Hundreds of millions of years ago, volcanic eruptions spewed out larva around the world. This larva cooled to form basalt rock deposits in gigantic quantities. This geological mineral is mined to help build roads and tunnels. However, Basalt has been used by farming communities for thousands of years to act as a natural soil enhancer.
CO2 naturally reacts with metal oxides found in geological rock, including Basalt, to form insoluble carbonates. However this process usually takes millions of years! Scientists have recently discovered basalt can be finely ground up to accelerate this process. The dust can then be spread on farmland to capture CO2 to form limestone (chalk).
This technology is now being rolled out around the world to help offset climate change. You can help this process by using our specially formulated products to improve your garden and house plants, whilst simultaneously removing CO2 from the atmosphere. For every kg of basalt, up to 0.3 kg of CO2 can be captured.
A major carbon credit hub, which is paid for by Google, H&M and many others. They fund various technologies to capture and remove CO2 each year. Total investment has exceeded $500M.
A major waste management and energy management European company running multiple Enhanced Weathering trials to capture and remove CO2 whilst improving crop yields for farmers. They are developing the highest quality carbon removal technologies.
A UK-based carbon capture company using Enhanced Weathering. They are spreading basalt on farmers land to remove CO2 and improve farmers crop yields & soil structure.
